The apartment

Away from the view of others and housed in a bourgeois building of the second arrondissement, this vintage and central apartment combines a sophisticated decoration with a prime location.

The entrance corridor leads to the living space, both separated by two antique wooden frames, whose twist contrasts nicely with the volumes of the room. Echoes of long-distance trips, the entrance console and leather trunks give a bohemian touch.

On the right is the first double room, a real cocoon dedicated to calm and rest. On the same side on the right, the shower room strikes in black and white checkerboard all while in a functional space pleasantly lit by a window that overlooks a skylight.

The living space, in the center of this vintage and central apartment, confirms the choice of noble materials (cognac wood-parquet in chevron, vintage fireplace in black marble) and leather, with spectacular toad armchairs. The kitchen area makes the most of the glass and stainless steel, without neglecting the soft organic wood curves. The island built-in dining table and its bar chairs suggest a casual feel.

At the end of the living space, on the left, you will find the second double room facing south-west, with a bold and audacious headboard made of metallic tiles that harmonize with the anthracite tones of the room.

The bedding & washrooms

This vintage and central apartment has the following amenities:

  • 1 bedroom with a king size bed (180 x 200);
  • 1 bedroom with a Queen size bed (160 x 200);
  • 1 double sofa bed (140 x 200) located in the living room;
  • 1 independent shower room and adjoining toilet.

The neighborhood

The rue de Palestro where this vintage and central apartment is located, takes its name from the municipality of Palestro in Italy. This town was the scene of a famous victory of the Franco-Piedmont alliance against the Empire of Austria, which remains a decisive episode of the second Italian War of Independence.

The district is the theater of an effervescent commercial life, which animates the surroundings of this vintage and central apartment. Everything starts at the Grand Cerf brasserie, an ideal place for a brunch or cocktail on the terrace in a contemporary chalet decor. At lunchtime, two addresses have caught our attention: the Poulette restaurant with its Art Nouveau ceramic frescoes, as well as the shop Les Épiciers for a plate of charcuterie or a take-away dish.

For evening, the Ikône restaurant-cocktail bar takes us to the discovery of a sun-drenched Greek Mediterranean cuisine. You can go directly to the restaurant by going through the passage of the Bourg l’Abbé that connects the street of Palestro with the street Saint-Denis. Its charming ceiling rounded glass is uncommon in the Parisian passages.

Finally, to taste selected wines and bring back a small piece of a local product in you, Le Comptoir is the gourmet address that closes this walk around the apartment.

Less visited by tourists, the neighborhood is none the less one of the most authentic of Paris. Loaded with history, it will offer you the triumphal arches of Porte Saint-Denis and Porte Saint-Martin. Far from being as well known as that of the Place de l'Etoile, they celebrate the warlike victories of Louis XIV and are located at the historic site of two gates of the former enclosure of Paris.

A stone's throw from the apartment you will find the Square Émile Chautemps for a small greenery in the heart of the city. Continuing on rue Papin and then the rue Saint Martin, you will arrive at the famous Museum of Arts et Métiers, which hosts the aeroplans of Louis Blériot and Clément Ader. In preparation for your visit, you may download the mobile app to discover eight thematic tours. The museum is nocturnal on Thursdays.
